Description: I had this portable sold and the buyer backed out without even seeing it. So, here we go again.
This is a great operating portable steam unit that I put together over a 30 year period.
The boiler is from a 1906 Case 6hp skid engine. It is all original except for the firebox and the draft door. It is currently Minnesota inspected and certified for 75 psi. It has passed all bi-annual Mn. inspections since 1988 and is fired and shown each Aug.
The engine is a vary rare SS Messinger and Sons "Empire" and is about 5 or 6 hp. It runs very smooth and strong with no leaking or blowby. This engine was origanally mtd. Vertically (cylinder up) and only has had brackets added to mount it horizontal. It could easily be changed back. A similar engine is shown in Norbeck's encyclopedia. The flywheel governor was missing so I mtd. an excellent working 1 1/4" Gardner. It has 2 Penberthy 1/2" injectors and a very good lubricator.
The rear wheels and axle are from a Rumley Oil Pull. The front axle is fabricated and has wheels from a large Int'l. Titan gas tractor.
This great little steam portable needs nothing to show or work except water, wood or coal, and a match.
It weighs approx. 6,000 lb.,is just shy of 8' tall and fits easily on a car hauler trailer.
