Description: Steam collectors! More pictures available of this very unique, rare, portable stationary steam unit. Over 30 years I have acquired various parts and assembled this operating show piece. The boiler has been operated annually since I got it in 1988 and
has passed all Minn. Inspections since then. The boiler is now certified for 75# and was last inspected in Aug. of 2018.
1. The boiler is from a 1906 Case 6HP portable stationary skid engine.
2. The engine is what I believe to be an extremely rare 5HP Messenger Mfg. Co. Empire vertical mtd. portable built in the late 1800's. These are pictured in Norbeck's encyclopedia on page #173. Slightly modified for horizontal usage it could easily be run vertically again. The flywheel gov. Was missing so I added a 1 1/4" Gardner which works great.
3. The rear wheels and axle are from a Rumley Oil Pull.
4. The front wheels are from a large I.H. Titan gas tractor and are in near perfect condition.
The front axle is hvy. wall sq. tubing.
This unit comes complete and operable with 2 Penberthy 1/2" injectors and a good steam ga.
The whistle is not included.
All piping is up to code and sched. 80 where required.
You can pick it up here or I would deliver it to the LeSueure swap meet. It weighs approx. 6,000 or thereabouts.
